What Is Conversion Rate?

Your conversion rate is the percentage of website visitors who take the action you want — usually calling or submitting a quote form.

If 100 people visit your site and 3 request a quote, your conversion rate is 3%. That number is the single most important metric for a contractor website. Traffic without conversions is expensive noise.

Most contractor websites convert somewhere between 1% and 5%. Getting from 1% to 3% is often easier and cheaper than tripling your traffic — you already paid for those visitors, they just left without doing anything. That's where SiteLeak audits usually find the biggest wins.

Things that raise conversion rate: a clear headline saying what you do and where, a phone number visible on every page, short quote forms, real reviews near the form, and pages that load in under 3 seconds on mobile.

Real example

A restoration company was spending $2,000/month on Google Ads getting 800 clicks. Only 4 turned into calls — a 0.5% conversion rate. Fixing the mobile layout, shortening the form from 9 fields to 3, and adding real photos got them to 24 calls the next month. Same ad budget.
